Jinan Key Areas
Jinan Key Areas is an urban color plan for key districts of Jinan, China. The plan covers 32.9 square kilometers, including a core area of 8.66 square kilometers. Color genes were drawn from traditional local architecture and from the natural environment, and a recommended color range was prepared for the area. Hue, lightness and chroma are guided across the urban space according to spatial structure and function. The architectural color image of the core axis was also designed. Guidelines for building materials that match the recommended colors support the implementation.
Jinan Key Areas Urban Color Design by Guo Hongyu has been featured as an innovative example of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. Jinan Key Areas Urban Color Design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in Urban Planning and Urban Design in 2021. The A' City Planning and Urban Design Award is a highly prestigious, international, juried design accolade that recognizes superior design of masterplans, zoning proposals, infrastructure designs, landscape blueprints, public space concepts, urban renewal projects, transit oriented developments, sustainable city designs and more.
